Spring is in the Air

The very thought of spring makes me smile—for a couple reasons. You see, Spring is by far my most favorite season next to fall. It’s not for a “Mary Poppins birds singing flowers blooming type of reason. Not at all. In fact, Spring is my favorite because there are absolutely no bugs present. That’s right, you read it right--No bugs.

To understand the significance of that one statement is to know where I live. You see I live in Eastern Canada; the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. No matter where you live, if you are surrounded by bogs, trees or water, you will have bugs. They are annoying little pests. So my top reason is pretty basic.

My next reason is more of a memory and a love to do type of thing. In this region because of the high amounts of snow that we receive in the winter time that come spring, it tends to become wet and messy. For the avid walker or runner it poses a problem but for the people that like to play in the snow and water it’s ideal.

It is nothing more thrilling than riding a four wheeler down what once was a winter sliding hill and straight into and through a large icy water puddle.  Yes, you get very wet and it becomes rather cold but the fun is priceless and something only spring can offer.

So as the winter wonderland melts away and welcomes spring, it is not only Mother Nature that enjoys the transformation but the people of the big land of Labrador as well.

  1. *waves hi from ontario to a fellow canadian* thanks so much for the great blog hop

  2. Thanks for participating and the great giveaway! I'd never thought of it that way (the best part of spring being no bugs), but even here in SE Michigan, summer is pretty bug-infested! (Of course I found an ant in my kitchen just yesterday. Not happy).

Thanks for the giveaway! Spring is in the air, but unfortunately living in Upstate NY, it is not even close to arriving. It snowed again at my house just tonight. I'm looking forward to the warm weather and longer days though. Spring is the time of love and my favorite romance novel is entitled "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. It's not strictly a romance novel as it's found in the literature section of a bookstore, but it has strong romantic elements. Jamie Fraser is my favorite romantic hero as he's strong, sensitive, honorable and slightly flawed. Sometimes his pride gets in the way of making the right decision, but in the end, he'd do anything for Claire.
I love this giveaway hop! And, I plan to keep on hopping!

  7. You're so lucky. We've already had mosquitoes here in NC. I'm hoping that another cold snap that we just had will knock out all of those early hatchers. I hate mosquitoes!
